The FEGLI (Federal Employees Group Life Insurance) open season is upon us. The open season runs from September 1, 2004 to September 30, 2004. Be sure to review your life insurance needs and take action accordingly. You want to be sure that your loved ones are covered in the unfortunate event something should happen to you. You should have received a booklet/package in the mail by now. If you did not or have questions, please visit their website at: www.opm.gov/insure/life.

It's hurricane season and it's been a costly one so far. If you know a postal worker who has had their life devastated by nature's fury, please refer them to the FEMA website so they can get their lives back on track as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the Postal Worker's Relief Fund website appears to be shut down. I would look into Catholic Charities as well. We must help our fellow citizens/coworkers out whenever possible. We will never know when our turn will come, but by starting something positive, we can guarantee that we will make it through most anything. Thank you in advance. :-)

Be sure to register to vote. Your vote DOES count. Spread the word. This is one of the most important elections in a long time and voter particpation is crucial. It's more than just picking a president; there are local and state issues too. Don't lose out. It's all up to YOU!.

The .zip file (ELM17.7) mentioned in the last message is/has been fixed. There were two pieces of information relating to the case that have come down since the last message. The first document was a request for information from the EEOC from Dena Briscoe (class agent). The second document is Dena's response as prepared/put together by Judicial Watch. We are still awaiting a decision from the DC District Court on the hearing that took place April 29, 2004. To keep up with the litigation, please go to the following link (http://www.dcd.uscourts.gov/) and bookmark. Go to "Court Opinions", "District Court Opinions" and then "Most Recent Court Opinions" to find the opinion (when it is issued). Please support Judicial Watch in their effort. This is your (ALL Brentwood Employees) fight too. Stay informed and spread the word.

Fixed problem with ELM (Employee Labor Manual) onsite. At this time I still have to upload the Zip file for those of you who want to download the entire file. In the meantime you can go to usps.com or to APWU's website to download the file. I'll notify everyone when the Zip file is ready for use again. Thanks for bearing with us.

More news on the legal front. Please click this link here to view more information on the class action against the USPS (for their actions (and lack thereof) during the anthrax attacks in October 2001). This is the EEO portion of the legal battle. Be sure to sign up for Judicial Watch's InfoNet and keep up with the latest news as it arrives. Also do your part and support their efforts to fight corruption by donating some money. You can donate as little as $10. Every penny counts. Thank you for your time. JRM

Brentwood Exposed™

IMPORTANT CLASS MEMBER INFORMATION

***Attention***

ALL Brentwood Employees

February 6, 2004, marked two years since the inception of Brentwood Exposed™. We have accomplished a lot in that time despite all the obstacles and burdens many of us have faced. Judicial Watch has been there for us all along and wants you to know that they will be there until this is over. So we are asking for help and cooperation from as many people as possible (those who were present during October 2001) to ensure that what happened NEVER happens again. You are worth more than all the money in the world. You have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. Accept no less. This is your fight too and we want to ensure you have a safe (and fun) place to work. Please notify your coworkers as well. Teamwork is the name of the game.

We look forward to hearing from more of you (Brentwood postal workers) in the upcoming year. We also appreciate all the other postal workers who have contributed to our efforts. Our fight is your fight too. It goes beyond the post office to the entire workforce in this country of ours. We need to restore dignity and respect in the workplace wherever it has been trampled on. This country is supposedly by the people for the people, so let's show some spirit and get this country turned around.

Have a very good day. Smile! You're the most important asset in the US Postal Service. Be proud.

Sincerely,

Joseph R. Mays

We want to hear from YOU (members of the class). Email us at webmaster@cyberside.net and let us know where problems exist (communication, information, web site access, etc.) and any suggestions you may have as well. If you have information that can help other coworkers, please send that as well so we can get that onto the website and to the people that need it. This is your website and was made for YOU, but YOUR participation is needed. Please put "Feedback" in the subject line.
